New Jersey Dental CE Requirements

Dentists in New Jersey are required to meet specific continuing education (CE) requirements for license renewal. This guide provides detailed information about these requirements, ensuring New Jersey dentists remain compliant and up to date in their field.

• Renewal Cycle: Biennial (even-numbered years)
• Required Hours: 40, including 10 mandatory:
  • 1 hour ethics & NJ law
  • 3 hours CPR
  • 3 hours pharmacology & internal medicine
  • 3 hours infection control
  • 1 hour opioid prescriptions
• Dentists graduating in the year of renewal have specific requirements.

• Renewal Cycle: Biennial (odd-numbered years)
• Required Hours: 30, including 2 mandatory:
  • 2 hours CPR
  • 2 hours abuse & neglect

• Frequency: Every two years
• Credits required: 10 CE credits
• Renewal time: At the time of registration renewal

• Mandatory hours: Out of the 10 CE credits, 6 hours must be in mandatory topics like infection control, radiation safety, dental law, and basic life support (BLS).
