CE Hours Required

Total hours required: 16 hours every two years

For dentists, 3 of these 16 hours must be related to the responsible prescribing of controlled substances. Excess hours cannot be carried over to the next CE period.

CE Content and Method

Acceptable CE Topics Include:

  • Clinical topics such as oral surgery, operative dentistry, orthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, etc.
  • Management of medical emergencies, professional ethics, and pharmacology.

CE can be completed in person or online with no limit on online hours. Practice building and business management courses are not accepted.

Additional Requirements

Basic Life Support (BLS) training is required but does not count towards the 16-hour CE requirement.

CE Requirements for New Licensees

Newly licensed hygienists and dentists in an even year, such as 2022, only need to submit 8 hours for the following odd year, with specifics for dentists on controlled substances education.

Additional Points

  • License renewals have shifted from annual to biennial with practice act changes effective in 2021.
  • The Wyoming Board of Dentistry conducts random audits to ensure compliance with CE requirements.
