Sacramento District Dental Society (SDDS)

SDDS aims to promote oral and general health through education, service, and advocacy. The organization includes general dentists, specialists, dental students, and other dental team members, all operating within the ethical frameworks of the California Dental Association (CDA), American Dental Association (ADA), and SDDS itself.

Membership is open to:

• Licensed dentists in the Sacramento area
• Dentists working at least one day/week in Sacramento but affiliated with other CDA components
• Affiliate members (ADA members not eligible for active or life membership)
• Dental students
• Dental health professionals (hygienists, assistants, and office staff)

The Sacramento District Dental Foundation (SDDF), a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 1969, advances oral health for underserved populations through direct care and education.

• Smiles for Kids®: Offers free dental screenings, treatment, and education to uninsured/underinsured children.
• Smiles for Big Kids: Delivers pro bono care to low-income adults and elderly patients in urgent need.
• Educational Outreach: Runs school programs including the Tooth Fairy campaign.
• Scholarships: Supports dental students and auxiliary team education.
• Helen Hamilton Fund: Provides orthodontic treatment to children in need.

SDDS provides referrals to dentists who accept Medi-Cal (Denti-Cal) and maintains a public list of affordable dental clinics throughout Sacramento. These clinics serve a wide range of patients, including children, seniors, and individuals with special needs.
