Course Description

This online training module, developed specifically for Nevada dental professionals,
provides current guidance from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
It covers diseases and agents most commonly associated with chemical, biological, radiologic, and nuclear threats.
Participants will also learn about the Health Alert Network (HAN) and its role in responding to terrorism.

Learning Objectives

Understand the definition of terrorism, bioterrorism, and weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
Identify key biological threat agents.
Describe natural transmission and clinical presentations of Category A biological agents.
Explain available treatment and prophylaxis options for biological agents.
Recognize chemical, radiologic, and nuclear agents used in attacks.
Summarize the clinical features and treatments for acute radiation exposure.
Identify symptoms of chemical releases and first-responder actions.
Follow CDC recommendations for bioterrorism incidents and hospital best practices.
Understand the structure and application of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Health Alert Network (HAN).

Course Format

and a post-test to receive a printable (PDF) certificate via email upon completion.
