Dental CE Requirements for Rhode Island Dental Professionals
Dentists
Total hours required: 40 Continuing Education credits every two years
Mandatory Hours
- Infection Control: Required yearly
- CPR certification: Must be up to date
- 8 hours on appropriate prescribing, pharmacology, dependence, and alternatives to opioids for pain management (once per career for dentists with a Schedule II DEA license)
Elective Hours
Elective hours: Remaining hours after mandatory requirements
Dental Hygienists
Total hours required: 20 Continuing Education credits every two years
