Total hours required: 63 hours every three years

Mandatory Hours

  • Two hours of health equity training every three years.
  • One hour of dental jurisprudence examination every three years.

Elective Hours

Elective hours: Remaining hours can include a variety of clinical and non-clinical subjects such as emergency management, infection control, pharmacology, ethics, and patient care.

Additional Points

  • Up to 21 hours can be in practice management every three years.
  • Continuing education can be carried over to the next cycle, with a maximum of 15 excess hours.
  • Random audits are conducted to ensure compliance with CE requirements.

Moderate Sedation with Enteral Agents

Requirements for sedation permit: At least 21 hours of education and training in moderate sedation.

  • Additional 7 hours of CE every three years specifically for those with a moderate sedation permit.
  • Must include hands-on emergency management training.

Specific CE Opportunities

  • Teaching, presenting, or lecturing may count for a significant portion of CE hours.
  • Direct clinical supervision and publishing scholarly articles also contribute to CE credits.
  • Volunteer dental patient care can account for certain CE credits.
