Dental CE Requirements for Vermont Dental Professionals

Dentists and Dental Hygienists

Total hours required: 30 hours every two years

Mandatory Hours

  • CE must be relevant to the licensee's practice and presented by qualified individuals.
  • CE must have a method to verify attendance and completion.

Elective Hours

  • Up to 15 hours qualify for internet or home study with verification by an exam and a certificate.
  • Up to 10 hours qualify for teaching dental CE to others.
  • Up to 6 hours qualify for CE sponsored by the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing.
  • Up to 3 hours qualify for practice management courses.
  • Up to 4.5 hours qualify for documented volunteer dental care treatment (1 hour of CE for 4 hours of volunteer dental care treatment).

Additional Points

  • Re-certification in BCLS, ACLS, and PALS does not count as CE.
  • CE records must be retained by dentists and hygienists for 6 years.
  • Licensees may be excused from this CE requirement for up to 3 years when properly documented.
