General CE Requirements
Mandatory Hours
- At least 25 credit hours must be in clinical dentistry or clinical medicine.
- CPR and AED certifications must be current to practice dentistry.

Elective Hours
Elective hours: Up to 5 hours may include study groups, post-doctoral activities, or other approved non-clinical education.
Specific Acceptable Activities
- CE courses must be sponsored or recognized by reputable dental or medical organizations or accredited postsecondary institutions.
- Active enrollment in an accredited post−doctoral dental residency training program counts towards the CE requirement.
Additional Points
- Continuing education requirements do not apply to the biennium in which a license is first issued.
- Service members and their spouses may request extensions for license renewal and CE requirements under certain conditions.
